Topgolf Winter League & Early 2026 Golf Notes

I played in the Topgolf Winter League again this year, my buddies and i have team and going head-to-head with my son and his group. We don’t really worry too much about other teams. Seems to be a lot of cheating going on. We’ve done this league before, and honestly, it is a bit disappointing. The organization just isn’t where it should be. I’m seriously considering filling out their survey and giving some direct feedback.

Heading into the final week, we’re tied 2-2—including my son’s team—and me and my son head to head so it should be a fun finish. We’ll see how it plays out.

Getting Back on the Course

I’ve only been able to get out a handful of times so far in 2026, but a couple rounds stand out:

  • Fox Hollow – First time playing there. Really nice course, but the wind made it a challenge.
  • Played in Mexico at the Cancun County Club – Very nice course it was long and pretty difficult. Was hard also because I was using rental clubs. Rained a bit too but we just tried to have fun and not worry to much about score.
  • South Suburban (9 holes) – Got out on a Thursday. A little cold, and honestly, I didn’t play well.

What’s Working (and What’s Not)

Right now, my game really comes down to one thing: chipping.

When my chipping is on, everything feels solid. When it’s off, the whole round starts to fall apart—and lately, it’s been costing me. I thought I had it dialed in after working with the GPS setup in the garage, but clearly, it still needs more work.

On the positive side, I’m really liking the new clubs. I’m hitting them well overall—just need to find more consistency.

Lessons or Not?

I keep going back and forth on whether to take lessons. Part of me thinks it would help tighten things up, especially around the greens. Still undecided for now.

Looking Ahead

I’m supposed to get another nine holes in at South Suburban on Tuesday, but the weather isn’t looking great, so that might not happen. Other than that, nothing else on the schedule right now.

If I can just get the short game cleaned up, I feel like things could turn around pretty quickly. That’s the focus heading into the next few rounds.

March 31, 2026 shanks for the memories

Final night of the Topgolf league

Started out pretty good, I usually start with a lower iron, 9 or PW, and was hitting it
pretty well. Hit a few other clubs and no problem. The first game was just plain old
Topgolf, which is just hit it into any target, closer to the pin is more and more for the long
shots. I was even hitting my driver pretty well which I sometimes cant do at TP. My team
beat Lucas team so the team competion was 3-2 my team, yay!

Moved down to another bay to play my son in 1v1, we decided to play torey pines. I was
getting one pop on the par fives. Was 1 down after 3 and all of a sudden I couldn’t hit a
damn shot. Shank on a wedge first and then completely down hill from there. Shanks all
over, all clubs, any shot, WTF? And I couldn’t figure it out. After one really bad one that
hit the TP box right in front of the mat I just gave up. Figured I couldn’t fix it that night
and try again another day.

After going home I made the decisions I am going to get lessions. Never had them,
except from my grandma as a kid, lol. Now the question is with who? I’ve been
impressed with the improvements my son has made with xxxxgolf so maybe him. Or
possibly someone as south suburban. Gonna ask around.
