Product update

Can’t recommend this any more. From the best I can find, it looks like the product is no longer supported. I kept getting and error on my app and I tried to updated it and it doesn’t seem to work at all after the app re-install. Rumor has it this product is dead. I’ll keep checking on it and updating this page if I find more info.

I found out these guys will give a discount if you switch to their product.

Blast Motion is offering a trade in on ZEPP Golf sensors: https://blastmotion.com/trade-in-program-golf/

Introduction – when it worked

My golf game had gone to complete crap. I had come to a point of, do I quit golf or do something to improve. I’d been playing golf for most of my life and really enjoyed it when playing well. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a great golfer but I do pretty well. I don’t completely rely on what I score I get to gage how I play. I much rather have a good day of ball contact and a higher score than score well but feel like I didn’t hit the ball solidly.

As you can probably guess, I went the try to get better route. I decided I needed a swing analyzer to help me out. There are lots of options but I decided to go with the one from Zepp. I also went with the Zepp 2 which has more options available.

Not sure if there was a direct correlation but I did finally get my first hole in one after getting this product. I really helped me pretty much get rid of really bad slices.

By the way, I don’t have any connection to Zepp golf. This is just my personal review and I hope it helps someone else looking to improve their golf game.

Benefits of the product – while it was still working

Zepp 2 sensor on glove

I think one of the main reasons I went with the Zepp product was the price point. As mentioned, there are several to choose from but the price was in the range I liked. I paid $149 for mine.

If you are like me, you have some money to spend to improve your golf game but since I usually only play once or twice a week during the summer, I didn’t want to spend too much money on it.

I also liked all the data parameters that this had to offer. And you can use it at home or anywhere really. You can be actually hitting a golf ball or just practice swinging in you front room

You can also video your self and get a 3D view of your actual swing using your smart phone. I’ve only used this a couple of times. I find its just as useful not using it. I don’t really like to see what my swing looks like, haha. I think I look very stiff so I’d rather focus on what I can fix, not what I really look like.

How to use the Product – If it ever gets fixed

This product is very easy to use. You just clip the sensor to the back of your golf glove and it does all the rest. You can wear it while practicing or while playing an actual round of golf.

The sensor sends info to your smart phone app. You can check your progress as you go or let it save all the data and then download it to your phone. You can also put in which club you are using to track each specific shot.

Later you can look at how you did on your computer.

There is also the 3D swing analysis you can use with your smart phone. As I mentioned, I didn’t use this much. But it is nice to be able to watch your swing to see if you are doing the wrong things that the app tells you. As with my slice, I was coming over the top quite a bit. This helped me get that item better in control.

Who is the Product for? Nobody right now, it doesn’t work

I think this product would be great for anyone who wants to improve at golf, which is most likely everyone that plays golf. If you’re a beginner just learning the game, someone like me who has played a while and is trying to get better and even a really good golfer who wants to improve in one area or another.

I also think this product is great for someone who doesn’t have a launch monitor. Either because its too expensive or maybe a launch monitor doesn’t make sense for you. This is a great way to figure out what needs to be improved in your game.

Game off and not sure why. The swing analysis can point out what is wrong and ways to improve the weakness.

What I like about the Product when still worked

The Zepp 2 swing analyzer is very easy to use. Just attach it to your clove and go. It tracks many data parameters as mentioned above to help improve your game. After analyzing your swing it gives you coaching suggestions on how to fix the issue to improve your game.

The swing speed analyzer is nice in case you want to improve swing speed. I also have the Superspeed golf trainers that I am using to improve swing speed. With the Zepp app I can track my speed while doing the Superspeed training.

The instructors on the app gives you really good instructions on what to do to fix your issue. Things to work on and one than one thing to do to improve.

What I don’t like about the Product besides it no longer works

Just a couple of things that I don’t like about this product. It’s not really as helpful as an actual launch monitor. You’re not really getting the launch feedback like a monitor. You get to see what you ball actually does of course but not the spin rates and launch angles.

The other thing that is kind of a pain is switch to which club you are using each time. I put the sensor on my glove to track my full round of golf to see what I might be doing wrong. It takes some time to change clubs each time during your round. I found that I just left it one club and didn’t change it each time. This also makes it a little harder to know which shot the sensor tracked. You have to count the items to figure out which shot it was and even then you weren’t exactly sure.

Final Thoughts – It may be dead

As I mentioned, I thought this was a really great tracker for me and helped me fix several things I was doing wrong. Not sure where my game would have gone if I didn’t get it. Heck, I might not be playing it all.

I was able to work out my over the top and see what I was doing which helps figure out how to fix it, especially in the minds eye. The coaching gave me advice on what to work on to improve my swing. One other underrated item was measuring my back swing speed to my ball striking speed. Seems I was taking my back swing back too fast which was effecting my forward swing. I now know to swing back slower which really helps me with striking the ball. If i have some mishits I know to slow myself down now.
