9 holes at Kennedy Creek, July 21st
Not a lot of good things to say after playing so well last week in KS. Just didn’t have it today — no pars, a couple doubles, a triple, and honestly wasn’t sure what I was doing out there. Just fell out of whack. It was a super hot day too, with lots of wind. A lot of groups didn’t show up to play we noticed. Teed off early and didn’t have anyone in front or behind us which was nice and pretty rare for a City and County of Denver course. The Creek 9 has some pretty big gaps between holes and we were walking so that did effect my round. By hole 5 I wished I had taken a cart. Cutting down large trees the weekend before didn’t help either. Was feeling all of my 59 years.
Driver was okay — actually seemed to be hitting it further, but pushing everything a little right. I think the issue is I’m not bowing my wrists on the downswing like I should be. Common across all clubs today. Contact wasn’t great, no real good shots that I can recall.
The one plus: as bad as I played tee to green, I actually made some decent length putts — a couple 10, 12, 15 footers. So maybe the putter’s coming around.
Not much else to say about the round. Shot 49. Playing again tonight with the old boys — hoping for better.
The main issue was hanging on my back foot and not getting my weight moving forward. Old habits die hard, I guess. But that’s the good thing about the lessons — I know what I’m doing wrong now, so I can start figuring out how to fix it. Just bad ball-striking today, nothing else really to it. A lot of times I can self correct during the round but just wasnt able to today.
