A Tale Of 2 Different Rounds Or Are They The Same?

A Tale of Two Rounds — July 10th & 11th

Weird one this week. I felt like I played terrible on the 10th and much better on the 11th, but the scores came out almost identical. What the hell.

July 10th — Kennedy Golf Course Played 2 out of the three nine-hole courses, Babe Lind and Crrek for the back 9. Everything felt off — hands weren’t right, swing wasn’t right, sway wasn’t right, turn wasn’t right. Just an off day start to finish. Made the best of a bad situation and grinded out a 96 some how. Maybe i didnt get all of my strokes. Started pounding a few beers so you now how that can go.

July 11th — Highlands Ranch (my home course) Total flip. Played from the blues instead of my usual whites — I’m old, but it worked out fine because I was hitting driver really well. Loving the new shaft; feels like I’m hitting it both further and straighter. Really making much better contact the whole day versus the day before. It always feels like a better round with some good shots even if the score doesnt quite reflect it.

Played with Lucas, Jake, and Chris tagged along to give Lucas a playing lesson. Never seen anybody hit a ball that far — Chris was bombing 350-yard drives. Wild stuff to watch.

Round highlights:

  • Birdie on 13 (par 3) — nice shot there.
  • Then a double, another double, and an 8 on 16. So disappointed — I keep doing that thing where I flip the face closed, and I hate it.

Outside of the blow-ups, this was way closer to how I actually want to swing and make contact. Turn was there, wrist position was right most of the time — still not every time, need to keep working on that. Chipping was hit or miss, bunker play was decent, only one time but a really solid shot. Shot a 94.

Much more enjoyable round than Friday even though the score barely moved. It really comes down to: why do I always have one blow-up hole? If I cut that out, I’m most likely under 90.

Next up: heading to Kansas to visit Mom and my sister. Playing Tuesday at Lake Riviera with Jim— a course I never seem to play that course well — so we’ll see. Giving it another shot.

AS they say, that is golf.
