Conditions were a bit chilly with some light spitting rain early on, though it cleared up as the round went on.

Driver was a relative bright spot — hitting it pretty well and mostly straight. Had a couple of pushes to the right but nothing dramatic, no big slice to speak of.

Chipping felt decent overall, with a few genuinely good chips mixed in.

Fairway woods and hybrids are still a work in progress. Only hit the three wood twice and mishit both. Usually I hit my Titleist 3 wood consistently well, somewhat discuraging last night. Still sorting out the hybrid situation — debating between the Mizuno and the older Cleveland, which may be due for retirement. A five wood might be worth considering as a replacement or alternative.

Irons were a mixed bag — a few solid shots but still too many misses. Still learning and implementing what Chris has been teaching, though patience is probably warranted after just one lesson. The main swing thought is working on body rotation, but a noticeable pattern emerged: a lot of shots were pulling left, which may be a byproduct of working on the turn and hand rotation. Something to bring up with Chris — likely a normal part of the adjustment process that’ll iron itself out.

Putting was hard to gauge fairly since the greens are still semi-aerated and punchy, so not reading too much into that.

Score: 45 — a realistic number given where things stand.

The honest takeaway: the work from the lesson wasn’t really showing up on the course yet, which is a little discouraging, but with only one lesson under the belt it’s probably too early to expect results. Keep grinding and trust the process.
